What is Alcalá Artesano?
Alcalá Artesano is a project devised by the Town Hall of Alcalá del Júcar and local craft association AMATA (Asociación para la Mejora de la Artesanía Tradicional y Actual).
The essence of the project are, of course!, the different workshops of real artisans, that you can visit all over the old part of the village, supplemented with cultural and creative events and courses. The main aims of the project are
The project will start with a mínimum of 10 artisans, and increase this number in the course of the coming years. Opening times will be adjusted so that at any given day at least six different workshops can be visited. At the information desk you will find a leaflet that explains where the workshops are to be found and when they open. In the weekends and (bank) holidays there will be guided tours, but signposts will also enable you to follow the route that leads you to each and every workshop. The artisans who participate in this project live and work in Alcalá and not only do they demonstrate their crafts and sell their work, but they can also give courses and workshops for children and adults. And from time to time special encounters will be organised, as well as contests, concerts and sports and gastronomic events. |
Artesanía de Autor® - Key words in Alcalá Artesano
In Spain the word "artesanía" has lately been used for many things that have little to do with crafts or craft work. For Amata something is artesanía,when it is individually made by hand, possibly with the help of some simple tools. Amata has registered the frase "Artesanía de Autor" and when when we talk about artesanía, we always mean "Artesanía de Autor®", to leave no doubt that the author of the articles is present in the shop or workshop. If you want to know more about Artesanía de Autor®, Amata or the fairs that Amata organises, you can visit their site www.amata.es. |
