My name is Clemency and my brand name is Lamapuche.

I’ve been weaving for more than 10 years, I started weaving with a Rigid Heddle loom and now for the last 5 years I’ve been weaving on a floor loom with 10 treadles.

Before one can start weaving there are many stages as you will see in the video bellow.

One starts by choosing the project to weave, the pattern one will use and making a draft. Also choosing the yarn color combinations and warp density.

Then one measures the warp, winds it onto the loom, threads the heddles and reed and lastly the tie-up. Now we are ready to weave. Weaving requires a constant coordination between hands and feet which need to work together throughout the process. Weaving is a slow craft, one can take 5 hours making a scarf and more like 8 hours making a poncho, as this item also needs to be sown.

I only use natural fibers, in winter Merino wool and Alpaca. In summer Cotton, Linen, Tencel, Rayón, Bamboo, and Silk. I weave scarves, shawls, ponchos, cushion covers, and blankets.
